Today, state Senator Kent Smith (D-Euclid) held a press conference to discuss the values that will guide his work in the 136th General Assembly, the “Rules for the Road Ahead.”

“Ohio faces complex challenges, but I firmly believe that with shared values and a clear focus, we can tackle Ohio’s pressing issues and create lasting change,” said Smith. “The ‘Rules for the Road Ahead’ reflect our commitment to problem-solving, collaboration, and accountability. Ohio is worth fighting for, and these principles will guide how we work and what we work for.”

Originally inspired by Pete Buttigieg’s “Rules of the Road” during his 2020 presidential campaign, Senator Smith’s vision emphasizes values like integrity, curiosity, teamwork, and hope as the foundation for advancing policies that benefit all Ohioans. They will serve as a framework for his legislative priorities and lead him and his office as they engage with constituents, colleagues, and Ohio communities.
