Smith Sworn Into Office as Democratic Whip
Today, state Senator Kent Smith (D-Euclid) took the oath of office to serve in the Ohio Senate as Democratic Whip during the 135th General Assembly.
"Today, my service to the residents of Cuyahoga County continues as I begin my term as state senator for the 21st District. But, my service to all Ohioans also begins as the Democratic Whip for the Ohio Senate Democratic Caucus,” said Senator Smith. “I will continue to work for Ohioans’ lives, livelihoods, freedom and opportunity. Ohio deserves a state government that looks out for the general public, not their own material gain or accumulation of more political power. I will be dedicated to this fight because my constituents are counting on me to have their back and be their voice.”
Smith is honored to be serving in his first term in the Ohio Senate after previously completing four terms in the Ohio House of Representatives for the 8th District.
Smith is eager to use his unique perspective and professional experience to improve the quality of life for the people of the 21st Senate District and working families across the state.
Senator Smith will represent the 21st Senate District, which encompasses parts of Cuyahoga County, including Cleveland (part), Garfield Heights, Maple Heights, Beachwood, Euclid, Highland Heights, Lyndhurst, South Euclid, Cleveland Heights, East Cleveland, Highland Hills, North Randall, Shaker Heights, University Heights, and Warrensville Heights.
