Blessing Joins Select Committee to Study Housing Crisis
COLUMBUS—State Senator Louis W. Blessing, III (R-Colerain Township) today joined the first hearing of the Senate Select Committee on Housing at the Ohio Statehouse. The goal of the committee is to study and solve the numerous housing challenges facing Ohio.
"Housing is in a state of crisis in Ohio," Blessing said. "We need to drastically increase supply, and promote competition amongst housing providers, which will lead to more affordable homeownership opportunities and lower rents. "Fixing the problem of housing affordability is critical to Ohio's future."
The committee heard invited testimony from the Ohio Department of Development, the Ohio Housing Finance Agency, Affordable Housing Alliance of Central Ohio, The Ohio Homebuilders Association and the Ohio Mayors Alliance.
Additional hearings will be held in the coming months across the state to hear the perspectives of everyday Ohioans.
