COLUMBUS—State Senator Louis W. Blessing, III (R-Colerain Township) presented the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) Cincinnati with a Senate Resolution to honor the animal welfare organization's 150th Anniversary.

"SPCA Cincinnati's impact in Hamilton County is profound," Blessing said. "Today we celebrate their trailblazing success rescuing pets and creating a more compassionate society. I wish them more success in their mission for the next 150 years."

Founded in 1873, SPCA Cincinnati was the first humane society of its kind in Ohio, leading the charge for other animal rescue groups in Ohio. Each year, the organization positively affects the lives of over 12,000 animals through pet adoption and owner education programs. As a non-profit, the society thrives on community support, including the efforts of countless volunteers throughout the area.
