COLUMBUS— Senator Louis W. Blessing, III (R-Colerain Township) announced more than $15 million in vital Capital Budget projects across Senate District 8. This is the second phase of the process following last week’s announcement of a $350 million investment by the Senate in Ohio communities from the One-Time Strategic Community Investment Fund.

"We have had yet another great investment into our Southwest Ohio neighborhoods through our Capital Budget process," said Blessing. "These benefits cover public safety, workforce training, and parks and recreation facilities and many more. I am pleased to see these funds directly improving lives."

Some of the projects funded in Senator Blessing’s district include:

• Boys & Girls Club of Greater Cincinnati $1,400,000
• Best Point West Cincinnati Early Childhood and Mental Health Center Construction $650,000
• Urban League Renovation & Addition $145,000
• Mercantile Library Improvements $125,000
• Meals on Wheels Driving into the Future $750,000
• Scout Achievement Center $300,000
• Kuliga Park Upgrades $650,000
• William Henry Harrison Riverfront Park Project $500,000
• Santa Maria Community Facility $450,000
• YWCA of Greater Cincinnati Domestic Violence Shelter $400,000

The Capital Budget also includes $600 million for new construction and facility upgrades at Ohio's public schools and $575 million for local infrastructure projects such as roads and water and sewer projects.

The Ohio General Assembly generally approves a Capital Budget every two years, funding needed improvements to public services and facilities across the state, including schools, infrastructure, and mental health and addiction facilities.

Senate Bill 292 contains the overall Capital Budget and hearings will begin Tuesday in the Senate's Finance Committee. Find projects secured by members of the Senate on our online newsroom, On The Record.
