Tyler's Law Unanimously Passes the Ohio Senate
Legislation Aims to Improve Safety and Operation of Amusement Rides for Ohio Families

COLUMBUS—State Senator Louis W. Blessing, III (R-Colerain Township) today announced the unanimous Senate passage of Tyler's Law, named after Tyler Jarrell who was tragically killed while on an amusement ride at the Ohio State Fair in 2017.
"Tyler's family has been incredibly brave and involved throughout the process of getting this bill passed in both the House and the Senate, and I sincerely appreciate all of their work to help keep others safe," stated Senator Blessing, sponsor of House Bill 189.
Tyler's Law takes a number of steps to modernize safety inspection standards as well help make sure only the most qualified inspectors are chosen to perform this important job. "While undoubtedly a horrible accident, what happened to Tyler is unacceptable. I am proud to see lawmakers work together in our state to take action. Today marks an important step for ensuring Ohio families feel safe while enjoying the many benefits of our state and county fairs," added Blessing. "Amusement rides are enjoyed by many people in our community, and this bill helps see to it that they are properly maintained, expertly inspected and fully rider-ready before anyone is allowed to participate."
