COLUMBUS - State Senator Matt Dolan (R-Chagrin Falls) today celebrated funding through the Ohio History Connection grant program for the Chargin Falls Historical Society.

The Chargin Falls Historical Society will receive a $4,500 Ohio History Fund grant that will be used toward the digitization of The Exponent, Chargin Falls' newspaper published from 1874-1964. This year, the Ohio History Connection will award $90,000 in competitive matching grants supporting history-related projects across Ohio.

"Ohio History Fund grants provide much needed assistance for local organizations, nonprofits and historical societies to preserve Ohio's rich history," said Dolan. "Restoring our history by digitizing an old newspaper helps connect generations in Chargin Falls."

Members of the Chargin Falls Historical Society received the award during the annual Statehood Day event at the Ohio Statehouse, commemorating Ohio’s founding and highlighting the importance of Ohio’s history.

The Ohio History Fund "tax check-off" allows Ohioans to contribute tax-deductible donations to state and local history projects on their state personal income tax form. Donations to the Ohio History Fund are used to fund local history projects throughout Ohio through a competitive grant program.
