COLUMBUS - The Greater Cleveland Partnership (GCP) and its small business division the Council of Smaller Enterprises (COSE) today named State Senator Matt Dolan (R-Chagrin Falls) the "2018 Small Business Advocate of the Year." Senator Dolan was chosen for his work on Senate Bill 220, the Data Protection Act, to update Ohio law dealing with electronic transactions to also include blockchain technology. The new law encourages businesses to properly protect their ventures and workforce by increasing cybersecurity. "I like that this award is 'Advocate of the Year,' since that is how I see my role— advocating on behalf of small businesses," said Dolan. "It is a priority to improve Ohio's small business climate so that entrepreneurs can succeed and our economy can grow." The award was presented today in Columbus during COSE Day at the Capitol, an annual event that connects the Northeast Ohio small business community with state policymakers.
