Huffman Empowers School Districts to Plan for Fall School Year
Introduces Bill Reinforcing District Decision Making

COLUMBUS—State Senator Matt Huffman (R-Lima) will introduce Senate Bill 320 next week empowering Ohio's public and private schools to make their own decisions when developing plans for welcoming students back to school this fall.
The bill prohibits other public officials from closing schools.
"It is important that we allow the people who know their students and parents best to make decisions that are best for their local school districts," said Huffman. "With more than 3,500 schools across Ohio, a one size fits all plan would fail to be fair and effective."
The bill would also give parents who offer home instruction to their children the ability to decide whether the facility they use as part of their education offers adequate protection from COVID-19. Huffman's bill has been joined by 16 republican co-sponsors in the Senate.
