LIMA — Ohio Senate President Matt Huffman (R-Lima) welcomed Ford Motor Company’s new investment in the Lima Engine Plant.

The $100 million investment between the Lima Engine Plant and the Sharonville Transmission Plant in Hamilton County is part of Ford’s major $1.5 billion investment at its Ohio Assembly Plant in Avon Lake.

Ford plans to hire an additional 90 employees between the Lima and Sharonville operations.

“This is great news for Lima and Allen County,” said President Huffman. “The Senate has worked diligently to provide the economic environment to attract major investments like this commitment from Ford.”

The Thursday announcement by Ford comes only months after another billion-dollar project announced by Intel for Central Ohio.

The projects were coordinated by JobsOhio and were helped by the MegaProjects effort passed by the Ohio General Assembly in the current budget.

“Ohioans understand the need to manufacture things here at home,” said Huffman. “We cannot and should not rely on other countries when we can employ people here at home with reliable jobs and quality paychecks.”
