Reynolds Announces Crucial Water Infrastructure Improvement Grant
COLUMBUS—State Senator Michele Reynolds (R-Canal Winchester) is proud to report that the Jefferson Water and Sewer District (Franklin County) will receive a $2,950,000 grant for the Taylor Road Water Treatment Plant expansion project. The project is estimated to benefit more than 13,000 people in the region.
“I am grateful for our state leadership prioritizing critical infrastructure needs within the Jefferson Township community, especially as we anticipate strong economic and rapid residential growth here and throughout Franklin County,” said Reynolds. "Ohioans deserve access to the quality infrastructure and clean water we all rely upon every day, and these dollars are critical to providing for our present needs and those to come in the near future."
Due to the expected growth in the plant’s service area, expansion of its capacity is necessary to sustain current and future water demands. This grant money will provide the funding to increase plant capacity by adding another 750,000-gallon elevated water tower, as well as at least one water softener, one clear well, and one iron filter.
The grant was announced this week by Ohio Governor Mike DeWine as part of a $135 million effort to support 90 critical water infrastructure projects located within 64 counties across the state. This funding has been provided through the Ohio BUILDS (Broadband, Utilities, and Infrastructure for Local Development Success) water infrastructure program. It is yet another major win for Senate District 3.
