Reynolds Supports Remote Testimony for Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners
COLUMBUS—State Senator Michele Reynolds (R-Canal Winchester) held a press conference Tuesday morning announcing that she is sponsoring Senate Resolution 359 to support the allowance of remote testimony for Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners (SANEs) in Ohio courtrooms when appropriate and available.
"Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners provide compassionate, trauma-informed care to survivors during their most vulnerable moments,” said Michele Reynolds. “This resolution supports secure remote testimony to reduce burdens on these highly trained nurses, strengthen access to survivor care, and ensure SANEs can continue serving both patients and the justice system effectively."
Joining Senator Reynolds at the press conference to support the legislation were RAINN Vice President of Public Policy Stefan Turkheimer, Manager of Forensic Nursing at the Cleveland Clinic Michele Sorrell, Manager of Forensic Nursing at Mount Carmel Health Systems Melisa Minier, and Ohio Alliance to End Sexual Violence Public Policy Director Emily Gemar.
Senate Resolution 359 has yet to be referred to a Senate Committee for further consideration.
