Senator Reynolds Announces Funds to Protect Ohio Drivers and Waterways
COLUMBUS—State Senator Michele Reynolds (R-Canal Winchester) announced that three communities in the 3rd Senate district will receive funds to help keep Ohio drivers and waterways safe in the winter. These dollars, which total $214,759 will be utilized by locals to update their equipment and facilities to improve road salt management and reduce chloride runoff.
"It's so important we maintain safe roads and safe water quality for Central Ohio residents," Reynolds said. "These critical dollars will allow multiple communities to invest in the best tools for road maintenance before winter weather hits."
Municipalities receiving awards include:
- City of Westerville: $75,000
- City of Grove City: $75,000
- City of Canal Winchester: $64,759
These funds come from the second round of the H2Ohio Chloride Reduction Grant Program. The first round of grant awards were announced in May and, due to high demand, the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency added a second round. $2.7 million will be awarded to 52 communities in Ohio through the latest round. In total, the grant program has distributed more than $4 million throughout the Buckeye State this year.
This grant program is part of the H2Ohio initiative, which aims to address water quality issues throughout the state. Learn more about the program and the communities receiving funding here.
