COLUMBUS—State Senator Nathan Manning (R-North Ridgeville) announced the State Controlling Board has approved the release of $193,496 for the Elyria Police Department to assist local communities in reducing and preventing crime.
This funding is a part of the Office of Criminal Justice Services grant program, which includes an allocation of $4 million to various police forces throughout the state. House Bill 110, the State Operating Budget made this allocation possible. It will be used for overtime, equipment, technical assistance, and analytical support to implement crime reduction strategies.
“The City of Elyria’s Police Department is dedicated to protecting their community and enhancing the lives of its residents,” said Manning. “The support provided to the Department through the State’s Operating Budget will help implement tools and strategies that assist officers with day-to-day tasks and ensure a safer community.”
“The city of Elyria appreciates the support of Governor DeWine and the Office of Criminal Justice Services as we look to reduce crime and gun violence in Elyria,” said Mayor Frank Whitfield of Elyria. “We plan to use these funds to help our city embrace technological tools to keep our community safe and continue to make Elyria a safer place to live, work, and visit.”
