Manning Announces Major Investment Bringing 90 New Jobs to Lorain County

Berkshire Refrigerated Warehousing to Invest $24 Million in Sheffield

COLUMBUS—State Senator Nathan Manning (R-North Ridgeville) is applauding the announcement from Governor DeWine, Lt. Governor Jon Husted, and JobsOhio that Berkshire Refrigerated Warehousing, LLC plans to construct new 150,000 square foot facility in the Village of Sheffield, bringing 90 jobs to Lorain County.

The project was approved for an eight-year Job Creation Tax Credit by the Ohio Tax Credit Authority (TCA) on Monday. Berkshire Refrigerated Warehousing expects to create 90 full-time positions, generating $5 million in new annual payroll, as part of the company’s planned $24.34 million facility. Berkshire Refrigerated Warehousing is a Chicago-based company that provides non-contract refrigerated warehousing and storage services. The company provides storage for both refrigerated and frozen foods as well as services for processing, preparing, and packaging foods for contracted companies.

“Lorain County boasts a world-class workforce, and companies nationwide are taking notice,” said Manning. “Berkshire Refrigerated Warehousing’s investment will bring dozens of high-paying jobs, and enhance Lorain County’s reputation as a destination for economic investment. I’m proud to support the collaborative efforts of state, county, and local partners that made this project possible.”

The tax credit granted to Berkshire Refrigerated Warehousing was one of seven project approved by the TCA on Monday. The seven projects are set to create 660 new jobs and retain 3,333 jobs statewide. Collectively, the projects are expected to result in more than $39 million in new payroll and spur more than $51.8 million in investments across Ohio.
