Manning Introduces Legislation to Modernize Voter Registration in Ohio

COLUMBUS—State Senators Nathan Manning (R-North Ridgeville) and Vernon Sykes (D-Akron) today introduced new legislation that would modernize Ohio's voter registration system.
This legislation would modernize Ohio's system by verifying that voter information is up-to-date and accurate. Additionally, this bill will improve efficiency by streamlining the registration process for Ohioans, should they choose to participate.
“This legislation will establish a necessary update to voter registration in Ohio by modernizing the current system. This will improve the accuracy and security of the voter rolls, while also making the registration process much more efficient,” said Manning. “I look forward to working with my colleagues in the Senate and Secretary LaRose on this important issue in the weeks to come.”
“The inaccuracies of Ohio’s voter rolls has been a source of contention for too long,” said Sykes. The bill introduced today is a first step toward cleaning up the state’s voter files and modernizing our voter registration system to be more accurate and verifiable. I look forward to continuing this conversation with members of the General Assembly, stakeholders and advocates."
