Manning Recognizes Avon High School Football Team
COLUMBUS—State Senator Nathan Manning (R-North Ridgeville) recognized the Avon High School football team for their Division II state championship.
"These young men have shown true dedication to their sport and each other by fighting to get to the state championship and winning in a tough game," Manning said. "We are so excited they are bringing the trophy home to Avon, and look forward to their continued success on and off the field."
Avon beat Cincinnati Anderson 20-13 at the Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton. The Eagles made a critical defensive stop by forcing three-straight incompletions to secure the win. The title is the first in Avon school history. It was Avon's second appearance in the state championship game and first since 2011.
