COLUMBUS—State Senator Nathan Manning (R-North Ridgeville) today applauded the signing of Substitute House Bill 110, Ohio's FY 2022-2023 biennial budget.
"I appreciate all of the diligent work that went into producing a balanced, fiscally responsible budget for the people of Ohio," said Manning. "As this budget is signed into law, I am especially proud of the many benefits it has for funding schools, cutting taxes, and supporting students, including restoring local control to Lorain City Schools."
Major provisions in the Senate's plan include $1.6 billion in personal income tax cuts for working Ohioans, a modernized and fair school funding plan, investments in local governments, and boosting health and human services. The bill also makes a $250 million investment in broadband expansion for unserved and underserved areas of the state.
Additionally, Senator Manning highlighted a number of key provisions that will have a major impact in the the local community and across the state of Ohio, including:
- Providing Lorain City Schools, as well as Youngstown City Schools and East Cleveland City Schools, a pathway out of the Academic Distress Commission
- Allocating $75,000 per fiscal year for Lorain County's Neighborhood Alliance Senior Nutrition Program
- Securing $175,000 each fiscal year for the Lorain and Huron County fire departments
- Spending $300,000 each fiscal year for Shoes & Clothes for Kids, which will help the Cuyahoga County program expand to Lorain County - Increasing funding for Ohio's rape crisis centers by $2.7 million in FY 2022, including the Nord Center in Lorain
With the governor's signature, Ohioans now have a responsible two-year budget that prioritizes the working men and women of Ohio, while providing for the state's essential services. For more information, contact Senator Manning's office at Manning@OhioSenate.gov.
