Senator Manning Announces Funding for Lorain County Safe Harbor
COLUMBUS — State Senator Nathan Manning (R-North Ridgeville) is proud to announce that the Director of the Office of Budget and Management (OBM) has released capital dollars allocated for Lorain Safe Harbor to complete necessary renovations at the facility.
"This funding will allow Lorain County Safe Harbor to continue its mission of providing support to victims of domestic violence in Lorain County," said Senator Manning. "I'm grateful to see these funds distributed to ensure the completion of these renovation projects. I look forward to the continued work Safe Harbor will be able to accomplish as a result of these funds."
Lorain County Safe Harbor provides outreach and crisis services with comprehensive support for victims and survivors of domestic violence. The program provides wrap around services to serve the survivor and family and is available 24/7 with on-site support to clients' specific needs in Lorain County.
The funding will be used for renovations to a roof and parking lot at the community outreach facility, replace the driveway at the emergency crisis shelter, and pave a new parking lot at the child advocacy center.
As a condition of state support for this project, Lorain County Safe Harbor has committed to providing services at this location for a period of 20 years. Upon approval of this request by the OBM Director, and prior to disbursing any state funds to the applicant, the Department of Behavioral Health has secured the state investment with a contract, 20-year forgivable mortgage, and note.
