COLUMBUS—State Senator Nathan Manning (R-North Ridgeville) is reminding residents of the 13th Senate District of the upcoming back-to-school sales tax holiday, August 5-7.

During the holiday, the following items are exempt from sales and use tax:
  • An item of clothing priced at $75 or less
  • An item of school supplies priced at $20 or less
  • An item of school instructional material priced at $20 or less.
“At a time when many families are struggling financially, this weekend’s sales tax holiday is an opportunity to keep more of their hard earned money,” said Manning. “I encourage everyone to take advantage of this annual opportunity to ensure kids have the tools they need to be successful in the classroom this year.”

In the 132nd General Assembly, then-Representative Manning co-sponsored Senate Bill 226, which created a permanent three-day sales tax "holiday" each August, during which sales of clothing and school supplies are exempt from sales and use tax.
