Antonio Announces Over $40M Investment in Northeast Ohio Higher Education Facilities
Today, Senate Democratic Leader Nickie J. Antonio (D-Lakewood) commended the state’s capital budget (House Bill 2) that was signed into law last Friday, which invests roughly $43.9 million into public universities and community colleges in Northeast Ohio.
“These funds ensure that our students have the tools they need to succeed,” said Antonio. “By investing in our educational facilities, we are ensuring that every student has the resources and support necessary to realize their full potential and contribute to the community.”
Overall, the bill appropriates $397 million into public colleges and universities across the state, with funds going towards infrastructure improvements and renovations. Institutions in Northeast Ohio receiving funds from the budget include:
- Cleveland State University – $15.78 million
- Northeast Ohio Medical University – $2.59 million
- Cuyahoga County Community College – $14.42 million
- Lorain County Community College – $6.5 million
- Lakeland Community College – $4.6 million
