Antonio Announces School Safety Fund Award for Lakewood City School District
Today, Ohio Senate Minority Leader Nickie J. Antonio (D-Lakewood) applauded the announcement of $1 million of state funding towards Lakewood City School District. These funds will be allocated through House Bill 45 which funded the Ohio K-12 School Safety grant program. A combined $68 million in grants was dedicated towards supporting the physical safety and security upgrades in Ohio schools grades K-12.
“I am grateful that the Lakewood City School District will be receiving $1 million as a result of House Bill 45. I voted in favor of this bill when it passed the last General Assembly, and it was signed by Governor DeWine last month,” Antonio said. “These state dollars, provided through the Ohio’s K-12 School Safety Grant Program, will aid in upgrading physical safety and security measures in our school system.”
The Ohio Facilities Construction Commission will administer the program in partnership with the Ohio School Safety Center. Leader Antonio will continue to support school safety funding as the legislature debates the two year operating budget in the coming months.
