Antonio Applauds Court Decision Overturning Ban on Gender-Affirming Care

Today, Senate Democratic Leader Nickie J. Antonio (D-Lakewood) issued the following statement in response to a decision by Ohio’s Tenth District Court of Appeals to block House Bill 68, a law that prohibits gender-affirming health care for transgender youth.

“I applaud the appellate court for protecting parent’s rights and Ohio’s transgender kids,” said Antonio. “In light of the uncertain times we live in, we must remain steadfast in our commitment to ensuring that every Ohioan is able to live a healthy, safe, and full life. Now that this bill has been vetoed by Governor DeWine and an appeals court has partially overturned the ban, I hope the legislature is able to focus on the real issues that impact Ohioans. Senate Democrats will continue to stand with Ohio families and the medical community in the fight for justice and equality for all.”
