Antonio Applauds Multimillion-Dollar State TANF Investment in Senate District 23 and Cuyahoga County

Today, state Senator Nickie J. Antonio (D-Lakewood) applauded a multimillion-dollar appropriation in the fiscal year 2023 Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) budget, which will go to organizations across Ohio that work to reduce poverty and support families and children.

“This budget will provide much-needed funding to organizations in Cuyahoga County and beyond, such as Adoption Network Cleveland, Birthing Beautiful Communities, NewBridge Cleveland, Providence House and more,” Antonio said. “As we look to the future, I believe all levels of government must continue to prioritize investing in our families and children. These dollars will go a long way in making our state a better place to work, grow and call home.”

The funding includes:

• $100,000 for Adoption Network Cleveland to provide parent education, resources, and family resiliency programs in Cuyahoga County
• $200,000 for Birthing Beautiful Communities to support high-risk mothers in Cuyahoga and Summit Counties by providing education and promoting healthy lifestyles to prevent infant mortality
• $25,000 for the C.O.O.R Mentoring Program to support adolescent girls in Cuyahoga County by providing personal development programming and mentorship
• $50,000 for Lutheran Metropolitan Ministry to provide workforce development services and a hands-on work experience for individuals in Cuyahoga and Lorain Counties
• $50,000 for WOMENSAFE to provide emergency shelter and support services to survivors of domestic violence in Geauga, Cuyahoga, Lake, Portage and Ashtabula Counties
• $50,000 for the YMCA of Greater Cleveland to provide workforce development programming for homeless people in Cuyahoga County
• $50,000 to assist Providence House, Inc. in the prevention of child abuse and neglect and the preservation of families in Cuyahoga County
• $200,000 for The Salvation Army to provide reentry and recovery services to individuals in Cuyahoga County
• $50,000 for West Side Catholic Center to help homeless families secure and maintain housing in Cuyahoga County
• $100,000 for the Catholic Charities Corporation, Diocese of Cleveland Job and Career Training Services to assist individuals who face barriers to employment by implementing job readiness workshops and other supportive services in Cuyahoga County
• $50,000 for NewBridge Cleveland to provide adult workforce training programs for individuals in Cuyahoga County
• $200,000 for the GroundWork Group to provide basic needs to individuals and families statewide
• $50,000 for Freedom a la Cart to provide employment coaching, work development and wraparound support services to survivors of sex trafficking in Franklin County and statewide
• $50,000 for Brigid's Path, Inc. to provide newborn recovery services, as well as education, support and resources to families in Montgomery County
