Today, Senate Democratic Leader Nickie J. Antonio (D-Lakewood) applauded Governor Mike DeWine for signing Senate Bill 450, the state’s capital budget that will appropriate state funds for Fiscal Year 2027–2028. This includes $49.8 million for Cuyahoga County, including community projects and state agency projects.

“I commend Governor DeWine for signing S.B. 450 into law and his continued commitment to investing in communities across Ohio,” said Antonio. “This is a great example of effective, bipartisan legislation that empowers our communities through strategic investments to maintain and enhance our infrastructure and stimulate job growth. Ultimately, these community project investments will help support safer neighborhoods, stronger public facilities, economic development, and improve the  quality of life for Ohio families.”

Overall, the bill appropriates $3.7 billion in capital funding, including $208 million for community projects across the state.

Highlights of local  projects in the bill include :

  • Near West Theatre Project
  • Becks Pool Modernization, the City of Lakewood
  • Lake Erie Nature and Science Center
  • Cuyahoga County Behavioral Health Crisis Center
