Today, Senate Democratic Leader Nickie J. Antonio (D-Lakewood) and state Senator Nathan Manning (R-North Ridgeville) celebrated the House’s unanimous passage of Senate Bill 20, their bill that designates the first week of May as “Ohio Stroke Awareness Week.”

“I am pleased to see the legislature take this important step in helping share the vital message that strokes can affect anyone, at any time,” said Antonio. “I’m especially grateful to have worked on this bill with Senator Manning, and for Ohio doing its part in raising public awareness that will lead to better health outcomes for people across the state.”

"Strokes can happen to anyone at any time, and when someone is experiencing a stroke, every single second counts. Raising public awareness is crucial in educating people on symptoms of stroke that might lead to earlier detections for patients,” said Manning. “We hope that the passage of this bill will further educate and hopefully save lives in the future. I am grateful to my Joint Sponsor Leader Antonio and believe the passage of this bill will do a lot of good for the health and well-being of Ohioans."

Senate Bill 20 now heads to Governor DeWine for his signature.
