Today, Governor Mike DeWine signed Ohio’s two-year budget bill, after making 25 line-item vetoes. State Senator Nickie J. Antonio (D-Lakewood) released the following statement addressing the governor’s health care vetoes:
“When the governor vetoed last-minute health care provisions, he made the right decision. During the 11th hour, some Republican lawmakers tried to rush through what they thought were going to be ‘golden ticket’ fixes without consulting health care experts, state agency professionals or the public. The budget is not the place to make sweeping, unvetted policy changes that have serious implications for people’s health.”
“I applaud the governor for his sensibility and commitment to quickly and efficiently addressing the challenges at hand. I am looking forward to working on these issues in a comprehensive, bipartisan manner in the near future.”
