Today, state Sen. Nickie J. Antonio (D-Lakewood) sent a letter to Ohio Department of Medicaid Director Maureen Corcoran raising concerns about the possibility of CareSource and Walgreens ending their contract.
“I am concerned for my constituents and Ohioans across the state who could be impacted by this change and would like to know what the Department of Medicaid and CareSource are doing to ensure that Medicaid recipients are receiving a continuity of care,” said Antonio. “Ohioans utilizing Medicaid need ample time to consider their options and make the best decisions for themselves and their families.”
Despite Walgreens executives’ claims that the pharmacy and Medicaid managed-care plan would cut ties, Director Corcoran distributed a memo Thursday afternoon stating that Medicaid still must approve any contract dissolution.
