Antonio Statement on Court's Decision to Permanently Strike Down Six-Week Abortion Ban

Today, Senate Democratic Leader Nickie J. Antonio (D-Lakewood) issued the following statement in response to the Hamilton County Court of Common Pleas’ ruling permanently striking down Ohio’s six-week abortion ban:
 
“Today’s court ruling is a crucial victory for women’s rights and access to comprehensive reproductive health care in Ohio,” said Antonio. “The six-week ban was always a cruel legislative overreach that violated the rights of Ohioans to make their own medical decisions. Just one year ago, the people of Ohio overwhelmingly voted to enshrine abortion access in our state constitution, reaffirming their support for an individual’s right to choose. This ruling ensures that reproductive health care will be accessible in Ohio and protects the dignity of all individuals. Our caucus will continue to fight for policies that expand access to these essential freedoms, but for now, I applaud the court’s decision to uphold justice and the will of the people.”
