Today, state Senator Nickie J. Antonio (D-Lakewood) released the following statement after the Ohio Department of Medicaid announced it will delay the complete implementation of its Next Generation Medicaid program, and instead stagger the implementation of the program’s five components starting July 1, 2022:
“I applaud the Department of Medicaid’s decision to press pause on the rollout of its Next Generation program. This is something that I have been very concerned about as a member of the Joint Medicaid Oversight Committee. As we continue to recover from the Covid-19 pandemic, our priority must be keeping Ohioans healthy by ensuring continuity of care. I’m hopeful that the Department of Medicaid can illustrate with the staggered rollout that they are indeed ready to take on this next phase while also ensuring all Medicaid redeterminations after the public health emergency are made fairly.”
