Nickie J. Antonio News
Today, state Senator Nickie J. Antonio (D-Lakewood) sent a letter to Governor Mike DeWine asking his administration to provide relief to nonprofits across the state during the COVID-19 pandemic. Many nonprofits self-insure for the purpose of unemployment compensation, meaning the organization has to reimburse the state if its employees claim unemployment benefits. Senator Antonio would like nonprofits to receive the same type of assistance that has been offered to other employers.
“If our nonprofit community cannot rebound from this crisis, it will be absolutely disastrous for the communities in our state,” said Antonio in the letter. “As we all know, the folks on the ground during and after a disaster, those who help folks pick up the pieces towards recovery, are our non-profit organizations.”
A coalition of Ohio’s nonprofits also sent a letter asking for Governor DeWine’s help on April 2. Both Senator Antonio’s letter and the letter from the coalition can be found below.
