Senate Democrats Urge DeWine To Remain Steadfast in Support of Intel and CHIPS Act
Today, the Ohio Senate Democratic Caucus sent a letter to the governor expressing concerns about Intel’s Ohio One plant and President Trump’s recent comments urging Congress to repeal the CHIPS and Science Act of 2022.
“In addition to the $1.5 billion Intel received through the CHIPS Act, your administration, the legislature, and our state have already invested billions more to subsidize the project. Municipalities in the region have also made significant investments in the infrastructure surrounding the area,” reads the letter.
“Amidst project delays and the sudden resignation of Intel’s former CEO, we have real concerns about anything that could delay the opening of the new Ohio factories even further – including any repeal or dismantling of the CHIPS Act. We must hold Intel accountable to the promises they have made to our state, and the federal government must fulfill the promise it made to Ohioans.”
“As our governor, we urge you to continue your steadfast support of the CHIPS and Science Act and your advocacy for Intel’s investment in Ohio. We ask that you reaffirm your commitment to the Ohio One Intel project and outline the actions you plan to take to ensure that this critical project will proceed without delay or cancellation.”
