O'Brien Introduces Bill to Open Ohio to Bitcoin
COLUMBUS— State Senator Sandra O'Brien (R-Ashtabula) introduced legislation to create a Bitcoin Reserve Fund for Ohio. The bill would allow Ohio citizens to pay taxes and fees in Bitcoin. It would also allow residents to donate Bitcoin to the fund as well.
"The world of cryptocurrency is upon us, and it is imperative that Ohio is in the forefront of this new technology. All indicators point to cryptocurrencies being a major part of President Trump’s economic program," O'Brien said. "President Trump has created the President’s Working Group on Digital Asset Markets. When this group issues its recommendations, Ohio will be ready.”
The bill will now be referred to a Senate committee. To follow it through the legislative process, sign up for Senator O’Brien’s newsletter here.
