COLUMBUS—State Senator Sandra O'Brien (R-Ashtabula) today announced the rollout of the state's capital budget, a $3.5 billion investment in Ohio's infrastructure and local community projects.

The legislature generally approves a capital budget every two years, and the bill funds needed improvements to public services and facilities across the state, including schools, roads and bridges, and mental health and addiction facilities.

Senator O'Brien (R-Ashtabula) secured more than $4.7 million in funding for multiple projects across the Trumbull, Ashtabula, and Geauga Counties.

“I am very pleased with the funding we were able to secure from this year’s Capital Budget,” Senator O’Brien said. “These projects will bolster the local communities of the 32nd Senate District.”

Projects that have secured funding in the 32nd District include:
  • Beaumont Scout Camp (Ashtabula) - $350,000
  • Mosquito Lake Park area improvement projects (Trumbull) - $513,000
  • BRITE Energy Innovators (Trumbull) - $500,000
  • SPIRE Institute and Academy (Ashtabula) - $250,00
A full list of community projects will be available later this week.

The Capital Budget will go to the Governor's desk for signing once it is approved by the House and Senate on Wednesday.
