COLUMBUS—State Senator Sandra O'Brien (R-Ashtabula) is urging her constituents to stay safe in the hazardous winter weather conditions throughout Northeast Ohio. Governor DeWine declared a state of emergency for Ashtabula, Cuyahoga, Geauga, and Lake counties to provide more state resources for storm recovery.

"Our region has already experienced overwhelming snowfall and we anticipate more this week," O'Brien said. "I am grateful to the Governor for this declaration so we have more support to plow our roads, share information, and keep residents safe."

Since last week, the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) has been removing snow on state and local roadways with 157 trucks throughout all four counties, and the Ohio State Highway Patrol has dedicated more staff to responding to crashes.
