O'Brien Votes for Key Priorities In Senate Biennial Budget

COLUMBUS— Today, State Senator Sandra O'Brien (R-Astabula) joined her colleagues to pass Substitute House Bill 110, the Senate's proposal for Ohio's FY 2022-2023 operating budget.
"For years, the taxpayers of Ashtabula County have been unfairly burdened by the Geneva-on-the-Lake Lodge expenses. Our proposal in the Senate’s budget not only more evenly distributes that burden, but also cuts taxes and provides funding for essential services to families across northeast Ohio,” O’Brien said. “It is an honor to fight for legislation that delivers results for my constituents in Ashtabula, Trumbull and Geauga counties." Major provisions in the Senate's plan include a five percent income tax cut for working Ohioans, a financially sustainable school funding plan, investments in local governments, and increased funding for health and human services.
Additionally, Senator O'Brien fought for a number of key provisions during the committee process that will have a major impact in the the local community and across the state of Ohio, including:

Additionally, Senator O'Brien fought for a number of key provisions during the committee process that will have a major impact in the the local community and across the state of Ohio, including:
- Accelerating the timetable for the State to assume operational control and ownership of the Geneva Lodge and Conference Center and operate it as a state lodge.
- Providing $5 million for the National Additive Manufacturing Innovation Institute to create workforce initiatives for K-12 students, adult workers and economically disadvantaged Ohioans in Steubenville.
- Increasing payment rates for certain Medicaid providers, including PASSPORT and Assisted Living waiver programs.
