COLUMBUS—The Honorable Chief Justice Sharon Kennedy of the Ohio Supreme Court administered the oath of office for State Senator Shane Wilkin (R-Hillsboro) marking the beginning of his first four-year term in the Ohio Senate. Last week's opening ceremonies also served as the official start of the 135th Ohio General Assembly.

"I'm honored to have the opportunity to serve the constituents living in Ohio's 17th Senate District, and I look forward to continuing the work to move our great state forward," said Wilkin.

Prior to his election to the Ohio Senate, Senator Wilkin served four years in the House of Representatives. As State Representative, Wilkin successfully championed legislation aimed at delivering lower taxes for Ohioans, advocated for efforts to improve Ohio's business climate and fought to ensure the right to life of the unborn.
Senator Wilkin's district encompasses all or part of Clinton, Fayette, Gallia, Highland, Jackson, Lawrence, Pickaway, Pike, Ross, and Vinton counties.

Senator Wilkin and his wife, Kristy, live in Hillsboro with their two daughters, Piper and Parker.
