COLUMBUS—State Senator Steve Wilson (R-Maineville) today announced controlling board approval to release $1,008,085.51 for safety improvements to the Little Miami Scenic Trail, located near Morrow, Ohio in Warren County.

"As I encourage Ohioans to enjoy the beautiful and scenic trails in our communities, I never forget that safety is of paramount importance," said Wilson. "This investment in the upkeep of the Little Miami State Park ensures Ohioans have a safe place to explore, exercise and spend quality time outdoors with their family."

The project is the second phase of a larger bank stabilization project that will allow the trail to remain safe by armoring two slips along the Little Miami Scenic River and relocating the trail away from potential danger zones. All work on the project is scheduled for completion by October 31, 2018.

Senator Wilson currently serves as the chairman of the Ohio Legislative Trails Caucus, and is the sponsor of Senate Concurrent Resolution 15, which designates 2018 "Ohio's Year of the Trails." The resolution was unanimously passed by the Senate last year, and serves as part of a larger effort to encourage Ohioans to take advantage of the more than 3,500 miles of trail networks that weave throughout Ohio.
