Wilson Joins Governor for Signing of Bill Improving Ohioans' Ability to Obtain Credentials for In-Demand Jobs

COLUMBUS—State Senator Steve Wilson (R-Maineville) today joined Governor Mike DeWine and Lt. Governor Jon Husted at the Statehouse for the signing of House Bill 4, which streamlines the process for employers in Ohio to create new workforce certificate programs and train Ohioans for in-demand jobs.
The bill requires the Governor’s Office of Workforce Transformation to act as a liaison between the business community and the Department of Education regarding industry-recognized credentials and certificate programs. "This legislation is good for the Ohio business and good for the Ohio worker. Ohio's employers have the best understanding of what they are looking for in an employee," said Wilson, who co-sponsored the bill. "This bill will help to ensure the Ohio worker is properly prepared to meet those demands, which will continue to help drive our economy forward."
House Bill 4, which passed the Senate in December, will assist businesses in working with the Governor’s Office of Workforce Transformation, the Department of Education and the Chancellor of Higher Education to develop needed job training or credential certificate programs, as well as the necessary curriculum, standards and materials.
