Wilson Joins Natural Resources Director For Launch Of New Ohio Trails Website
COLUMBUS—State Senator Steve Wilson (R-Maineville) joined Jim Zehringer, Director of the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, at the Ohio Trails Partnership Legislative Reception to announce a new resource available to Ohioans who enjoy hiking, biking, horseback riding and other activities that take place on Ohio's expansive trail network. Wilson, co-chair of the Ohio Legislative Trails Caucus, worked in partnership with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources to develope a comprehensive online trails portal that collects and consolidates important trail data. The website includes an interactive map that allows Ohioans to easily locate any trail within the state and an events page where users can view trail events happening across Ohio. Visit https://trails.ohiodnr.gov to see all this new website has to offer.

"Whether you are planning a thru-hike of Buckeye Trail or simply looking for a nice place to enjoy an afternoon walk or bike-ride, this new resource provides a wealth of valuable information," said Wilson. "I appreciate the partnership with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources and their willingness to enhance our efforts to positively impact trail development in our state."

The website is one piece of a larger effort led by the Ohio Legislative Trails Caucus to increase awareness, maintenence and access to Ohio's trails. Wilson also provided a legislative update to the Ohio Trails Partnership on his pending Senate Concurrent Resolution 15, which designates 2018 as Ohio's Year of the Trails. The resolution has been touted as a way to encourage additional investment, resources and education around Ohio's trail network.
