COLUMBUS—State Senators Steve Wilson (R-Maineville) and Sandra O'Brien (R-Ashtabula) today introduced new legislation providing an additional $465 million of federal funding to help Ohioans struggling to pay rent and utilities during the pandemic, including a combined $54.9 million for Warren, Hamilton and Butler counties.

“Ohioans are working hard to overcome the setbacks the pandemic has dealt us,” said Wilson. “The Senate is committed to providing relief to help our families and our workforce find safety, stability and hope for the future. I trust this bill will move quickly so we are able to help the families who need it most.”

“While I am hopeful the worst of the pandemic is behind us, the reality is many Ohioans are still struggling,” stated O’Brien. “We owe it to our constituents to ensure these dollars are distributed thoughtfully, fairly and in a way that will have the biggest impact for the people of Ohio.”

In October of 2020, Ohio distributed $55.2 million for Ohio families to help make mortgage, rent and utility payments.

To date, more than $2.5 billion in funding has been approved by the General Assembly for Ohio’s communities and schools as they continue to emerge from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Testimony on Senate Bill 110 begins March 9th in the Senate Finance Committee, and a companion bill will be introduced in the Ohio House of Representatives.
