Wilson Recognizes Local Ohio Veteran Hall of Fame Inductee on Veterans Day Weekend
COLUMBUS—State Senator Steve Wilson (R-Maineville) is taking time this Veterans Day weekend to congratulate Fredric L. Abrams from Warren County for his recent induction into the Ohio Veterans Hall of Fame. The ceremony took place on November 8 at Radiant Life Church in Dublin, Ohio, where awards were presented by Lieutenant Governor Mary Taylor and Director Chip Tansill of the Ohio Department of Veteran Services.

"It is truly impressive what Mr. Abrams has been able to accomplish during his time in the military and in his service to our community. His record of service to our great nation is an inspiration to us all," said Wilson. "I am proud to congratulate him on this great honor, and I encourage everyone to take time this Veteran's Day weekend to remember all of those who have sacrificed for our country."

The Ohio Veterans Hall of Fame recognizes the efforts of Ohio’s distinguished men and women who have worn the uniform of our nation’s armed forces and then continued to contribute to their communities, state and nation through exceptional acts of volunteerism, advocacy, professional distinction, public service and philanthropy.

Mr. Abrams, age 75, served in the U.S. Air Force in the Vietnam and Gulf wars. As a member of the Dayton Rotary since 1993, Mr. Abrams has been a member of the Board of Directors and led both the Education and Environment/Health committees, and serves as the club's Manager of International Projects.

In Kenya, he established a sanctuary for AIDS orphans rescued from one of Africa’s most dangerous slums. In Nigeria, he provided solar-powered boreholes providing clean and safe drinking water, improved sanitation, outfitted and equipped a clinic, and introduced a science curriculum in the high school. He was honored twice as Outstanding Member of the Year by the Rotary Club of Dayton and was awarded a Paul Harris Fellowship.
