Governor Signs Manchester Bill Creating Farm Bureau Health Plan

COLUMBUS—Senate Bill 100, sponsored by State Senator Susan Manchester (R-Waynesfield), was signed into law by Governor DeWine at the Ohio State Fair.
Senate Bill 100 creates the opportunity for members of the Ohio Farm Bureau seeking healthcare coverage to enroll in a more affordable healthcare coverage plan.
"I'm proud to see this significant piece of legislation that supports Ohio's farmers signed into law," said Senator Manchester. "Permitting Ohio Farm Bureau member's the opportunity of another healthcare coverage option shows that Ohio continues to support and look out for our state's hardworking farmers. I appreciate the Governor for recognizing the importance of this bill and signing it into law."
The Farm Bureau Health Plan is exempt from regulation and not subject to Affordable Care Act (ACA) guidelines, but enrollees maintain consumer protections and options to seek recourse if necessary. The Farm Bureau is required to disclaim that the Health Plan is not insurance, allowing for full transparency between the Farm Bureau and the consumer, ensuring that the consumer chooses the health care plan that is best suited for them.
