Senate Passes Resolution Condemning China's Role in the Drug Trade
COLUMBUS—The Ohio Senate today passed Senate Resolution 240, sponsored by State Senator Terry Johnson (R-McDermott). The resolution condemns the People's Republic of China for its role in the global drug trade, especially as the biggest supplier of fentanyl smuggled to the United States.
"Chinese involvement in the illegal drug trade is fueling the addiction crisis in America," Johnson said. "Fentanyl is coming to Ohio from China through the Mexican border, harming and killing Ohioans every day. Today we denounce China for incentivizing this heinous activity, as many people do not realize the heavy role it plays in this crisis."
Senate Resolution 240 condemns China for attempting to destabilize and divide the United States and the broader region through its tolerance and facilitation of the global drug trade.
Copies of the resolution will go to Ohio's Congressional delegation and the U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, encouraging them to act on this issue.
