Governor DeWine Signs Legislation Naming U.S. Route 22 After Lancaster Police Officer M. Scott Moyer

COLUMBUS—State Senator Tim Schaffer (R-Lancaster) and Lancaster Police Chief Adam Pillar joined Governor Mike DeWine this week as he signed legislation into law that will memorialize a section of U.S. Route 22 between State Route 188 and State Route 37 as “Officer M. Scott Moyer Memorial Highway.”
“Officer Moyer served with the Lancaster Police Department for 18 years with honor and distinction,” Schaffer said. “Moyer was a family man, Vietnam War veteran, and an ordained minister among other things outside of his career as a police officer.”
This legislation was initially introduced by Senator Schaffer as Senate Bill 228, but was later added to House Bill 276, which names other roads and bridges throughout the state of Ohio after fallen first responders and armed services members .
“I am honored to have worked with the City of Lancaster, Chief Pillar, and Officer Moyer’s wife, Connie, to get this legislation introduced and signed into law,” said Schaffer. “It is a privilege to honor the life and legacy of Officer Moyer and to immortalize his service to our community in Lancaster.” House Bill 276 was amended in Senate Transportation Committee last year to include other road designations from throughout the state.
