Schaffer Announces Capital Bill Funding for Local Projects in 20th Senate District

COLUMBUS—State Senator Tim Schaffer (R-Lancaster) announced the unanimous passage of the committee of conference report by the Ohio Senate today on Senate Bill 310 for capital appropriations throughout Ohio. Over $4.3 million in funds will be allocated for numerous projects throughout the 20th Ohio Senate District.
“I am excited that we are getting these funds out to some outstanding projects in the district,” Schaffer said. “This is some much needed great news for our local communities in a year that has been difficult for so many Ohioans.”
Following is the breakdown of all community projects Schaffer fought for funded under Senate Bill 310 in the 20th District:
Fairfield County - $900,000 total
The Board of the Pickerington Area Soccer Association, which Schaffer announced is receiving $150,000, said, “As our community population continues to grow, the parking lot, shared by soccer and other sports, becomes full often during the busy weekends of the spring and fall seasons. The provided funds will go a long way to help alleviate the parking and traffic concerns for PASA and its shared youth sports organizations. Plans include an entire additional overflow lot and will ensure the safety and capacity for the youth of Pickerington and surrounding areas to be able to play and grow with recreational soccer and other sports.”
Another project receiving funding is Burr Oak State Park, which will receive $100,000 for improvements for an accessible lake to lodge trail. Bob Garbo, President of Burr Oak Alive!, said, “Burr Oak Alive!, a Friends Group of Burr Oak State Park, is very appreciative of this funding from the Ohio Capital Budget. It will enhance the original State funding and our own local fundraising campaign, so the final issues of the Lake-to-Lodge Trail can be completed. This Trail will provide easier access for local citizens and visitors to the State Park, especially those with mobility issues. Burr Oak Alive! appreciates the positive support offered by our legislative representatives who believed in this project from ‘Day One’.”
Another project that Schaffer said will be funded is an expansion project at the Ohio Glass Museum. President of the Ohio Glass Museum, Mike Shook, said “Senator Schaffer has been a longtime supporter and advocate of the Ohio Glass Museum. These funds will allow us to proceed with the expansion of the museum and introduce new glass programs for education and the arts.”

- Muskingum University Health and Wellness Complex Supporting Program Partnerships with Zane State College; $200,000
- Muskingum County Fair Grandstand Enhancement Project; $200,000
- Zanesville Museum of Art; $107,500
- Gant Stadium Renovation; $100,000
- Stone Academy; $92,000
- Scioto River Bridge and Trail; $500,000
