COLUMBUS - State Senator Tim Schaffer (R-Lancaster) today announced the release of $10 million by the Ohio Controlling Board for roadwork improvements to support the Intel project in Licking County and relieve the burden on local taxpayers.

"Intel's presence in Licking County will be significant, and we must prepare to handle the increased traffic burden," Schaffer said. "I was proud to work with the Licking County Commissioners and Representative Thad Claggett to secure funds for these critical road improvements in our state budget bill."

The $10 million released will fund:

  • improvements to 2.4 miles on County Line Road from State Route 37 to Duncan Plains and an additional 2.4 miles on Duncan Plains from County Line Road to U.S. Route 62, connecting the two planned intersection improvements and enhancing westerly access to the north in Delaware County;
  • research and planning for a series of projects improving local roads impacted by Intel;
  • and studies for specific projects and the impact of future traffic on projects.

Schaffer and his colleagues voted to appropriate $90 million in total to support local road improvements near the Intel project.
