COLUMBUS—State Senator Tim Schaffer (R-Lancaster) today announced the State Controlling Board has released $3.5 million in funds to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources for Hocking Hills State Park in Logan to build a new lodge.

“I am proud to see the State of Ohio’s continued commitment to our state parks,” said Schaffer. “The construction of this lodge will bring more business and jobs into Hocking County and will strengthen the local economy.”

The released funds will go toward the installation of wastewater and water systems upgrades for the park which will contribute to the larger project with the construction of a new full-service lodge with 80 guest rooms. The previous lodge at Hocking Hills State Park was constructed in 1972 and was destroyed by fire in December of 2016.

Funding for these projects was secured in the state's capital budget that was approved in March of 2018.
