Schaffer Announces Funding for Numerous Projects in SE Ohio

COLUMBUS—State Senator Tim Schaffer (R-Lancaster) announced today that the State Controlling Board has released $1,046,000 in funds for the installment of the Multi-Agency Radio Communications System (MARCS) in Fairfield and Morgan Counties. Additionally, $1.990 million in funds was released for projects at Southeastern Correctional Institution in Lancaster as part of the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections (ODRC) budget.
“I am glad to see the State of Ohio continue its commitment toward improving public safety,” said Schaffer. “With the installation of these new MARCS towers, we are enabling our emergency personnel and first responders to have a modern and reliable infrastructure that will improve their ability to communicate and serve our communities.”
MARCS towers are used by multiple state and local agencies for voice and data communications. This system allows for more centralized and improved communications for first responders including volunteer fire departments. These agencies rely on this system to be fast and reliable.
Funds issued for projects at Southeastern Correctional Institution will go toward the modernization of the facility’s water main, pump station, and wastewater treatment system. These upgrades will bring the facility up to the Ohio Administrative Code standards and improves sanitation and water supply.
Funding for these projects was secured in the March of 2018 State of Ohio capital budget.
