COLUMBUS—State Senator Tim Schaffer (R-Lancaster) today announced that the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) has released over $13,000 in funding to the Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office through its Marine Patrol Assistance Grant.
“I believe our best days are ahead of us and hopefully we will be back to activities, such as boating, very soon," said Schaffer. "I am pleased to see these funds awarded to support our first responders by providing them with the necessary resources to keep Ohioans safe."
This grant is provided by the ODNR Division of Parks and Watercraft and is awarded to local law enforcement agencies throughout the state to assist with purchasing safety equipment needed for waterway emergency responses. This includes equipment used aboard marine patrol vessels that are used to maintain safety for Ohioans using lakes and rivers across the state.
According to ODNR, Ohio currently is ranked 8th in the nation for state recreational boat registrations. Additional boating information is available online at watercraft.ohiodnr.gov.
